June 08, 2012

The 2012 APEC CEO Summit that will be held on September 7-8 in the city of Vladivostok in the Russian Far East. The theme of the summit this year is “Addressing Challenges, Expanding Possibilities.”

The two-day summit will focus on advancing trade and economic policy for the future of the Apec region. More than 700 chief executives from major Asia-Pacific companies as well as government leaders and other influential representatives from the region are expected to take part in the event.

Chairman of the APEC CEO Summit 2012 Andrey Kostin said, "the recent economic turbulence has clearly exposed inefficient business models and the limits of growth. The world is at a crossroads, while the “economic centre of gravity” is shifting eastwards. However, the challenges only better highlight the immense potential of the Asia-Pacific region and the leading role our 21 economies are to play in the 21st century. To create a prosperous and innovative future, integration is essential."

The agenda for the 2012 APEC CEO Summit aims to address a vast range of issues related to trade liberalisation, safe food and water supply, infrastructure development, the fostering of innovation and new transportation routes.

The Summit will take place on Russky Island, off the coast of Vladivostok, at the newly built campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The Russian Chair hopes, "“the campus spirit” we all once experienced will reunite us, while also highlighting the crucial role of education."
